It's been a while since I posted, but that's not exactly a surprise.

I start school on Tuesday. I still have one book to finish reading and a physics packet to finish up, but thankfully, I don't have to worry about the comp sci project right now, since I learned yesterday that it won't be due until the second week of school. I finally finished the calculus packet today after asking someone who had already done it what a math sign I didn't understand meant. I guess I'm pretty excited about most of my classes this year, including computer science a little, since I'll be finding a Tales of Vesperia wallpaper to use as my desktop background in there. However, before school starts, I'll be going to the Renaissance Festival tomorrow with my parents and a friend. I have a costume (which I wore last year), but I don't think I'll wear it this time, since it's supposed to be hot tomorrow. :< Either way, it's bound to be a fun time.

Today, I joined a facebook group about McCain's VP pick and actually learned a little about Palin through use of links on the info section, and now I'm even more opposed to McCain.

On to more pleasant things, I bought Tales of Vesperia on Wednesday, and have logged in over 20 hours, even though I have school-related things to finish. I'll try to avoid spoilers in what I'll say about it, but if you want to absolutely avoid any info about the game until playing it, feel free to not read.

First off, the opening song is a good song, but it didn't feel like it fit as an opening song for a video game, although it is growing on me. The graphics were shockingly beautiful the first time I saw them, but as with all things, I'm getting used to them. Some of the music I've heard has sounded familiar, most likely because I have the complete Symphonia and Abyss soundtracks on my computer, but I'm not disappointed with it.

The characters are all interesting and likable (excluding the ones designed to not be likable), but I haven't seen any yet that really stand out to me as really cool characters (e.g. Jade). Thus, if someone asked me my favorite character right now, I might say Ioder or Ba'ul (jokingly). As for playable characters, Repede's pretty cool. Actually, he might be fairly cool, if not really cool. Oh well, I'll be undecided for now.

The boss battles seem pretty hard to me, but I'm playing on Normal since Easy gives you no grade. I switched to easy early in the game since it seemed hard (partially because I only had one character at the time), but after realizing easy gives you no grade, I changed. I find it silly that playing on manual gives you +0.25 grade, since this is the option I always pick in games like this. (I want as complete control as possible.) Other than somewhat difficult boss battles, the battles in general are okay.

I was so happy when I got to the first skit and heard VOICES. The wonder chef is back, but you can also sometimes make new recipes by just cooking normal recipes. This is given in info, but I've actually seen it happen once in-game. I like the attachment thing, where you can make items to add to a character's wardrobe. (Yuri has a cool hat, Estelle has glasses, and Rita has a magatama necklace. The game doesn't call it a magatama, but I've played Phoenix Wright; I know what it is!) I also enjoy the sub-weapons, although it'll probably take me a while to make some of them. Synthesis in general is plenty of fun.

Since the skills (not to be confused with artes) are learned from weapons, I often have my characters on weaker weapons than are available, since I'm being ocd about getting the skills. It's kinda annoying, but not unbearable.

If you haven't played yet, or are playing right now, but not as far as I am, there's something to look forward to: an opportunity for cross-dressing. I'm not going to talk too much about it, for fear of spoiling something, but that outfit was so cute. When it was over, I was wondering where my title was so I could make him wear that dress for THE REST OF THE GAME. Oh well, maybe I'll get it later? Please? Maybe next time I go to that town, that shop-owner will give it to me? I mean, the game designers went through the trouble of doing that outfit, so surely they'd make it available through a title, right? *Crossing fingers*
