躓いたり 転げたり だからこそ奇跡

If you're Kisumai fans, I don't know how many of you have already heard the news, but apparently when Nakai guested on the KisuBusa SP, he announced that he'd produce a song (single?) for Senga, Miyata, Yokoo, and Nikaido. The news is pretty unclear right now, and I haven't watched the SP yet to know exactly what was said (I'm way behind in KisuBusa), but there's already been quite the commotion about it on Twitter.
First I was just surprised, since this announcement came so suddenly for me, but when I had taken it in, I wasn't really sure what to think. Kisumai's... line-up or standing positions or whatever, and the relative exposure each member seems to get from debut (and a little from before debut although it was different then) up to the present is something I don't talk a lot about, because I feel like it gets talked to death by so many fans already, and also because looking at other Johnnys groups who have been around longer and had similar set-ups in their early years, it seemed most likely that the situation would improve with time. I wondered if it was even some sort of agreement with Avex, since their singles and their music seemed to be the place the dynamic was emphasized the most.
Even if I don't talk about it much (and hardly at all on lj), I was still dissatisfied with it. The reason I'm way behind on KisuBusa is kind of a similar thing. It was getting boring and frustrating to watch. It felt like the same thing over and over. The same members in the same positions (with only minor differences rarely) time and time again. I didn't feel any suspense. What I hope for the most for Kisumai is that they'd switch around the positions and the units, so to speak, more to give them more even exposure. I liked the songs with only a few members on each of the albums, and I thought it would be fun to switch around the groupings to see all the different kinds of songs they could do if they switched people up. There could be duets, and that'd be really fun (I would love to see a WataTai duet so much >_<).
So the reason I was worried about this idea of a single with the four of them is largely because I don't want the group to stabilize with those two units: KiFT and SMY2, and it seems to be continuing in that direction. But at the same time, V6 had two clear units within it from early on, and they still have songs with groupings that cross beyond those units, so there's still plenty possibility that things will go the way I want for Kisumai.
I had thought about making a post about how I felt about Kisumai on lj a few weeks ago, but I ended up not doing it. I don't think I had really organized my thoughts enough to write it out, but I had been wondering if I should pull back from Kisumai a little. Not dropping off as their fan altogether, but pulling back from fandom and buying fewer of their releases until things changed a little. A little bit, it felt like I was continuing more out of habit than because it was still fun, because in some ways, it wasn't as fun anymore and I started to feel like maybe I didn't like all of the members and was mainly there for Yokoo and I don't want to support a group if I can't like all of the members. And it's not even the members' fault.
So I felt like if something didn't change in a big way soon, I'd have to pull back as a fan a little or being a fan wouldn't be fun anymore. Tanagokoro showed signs of being a start, but it wasn't enough for me yet. I've said it on Twitter before I think, but when I listen to Forza! I feel like I'm listening to Kisumai's future. It's easily my favorite song on Good Iku ze! partially because it's a fun, upbeat song that feels a little different from their usual sound, and partially because I think of a future where every Kisumai song can be like that but with all of the members and you can clearly hear each one of them and it's beautiful. So, although it's not my ideal, this announcement seems like the other possibility that could make things okay: if you're going to sort of split them into two parts, at least give both of those parts projects and songs and stuff and give them more even exposure that way.
Even with all my uncertainty about this, I think if everything works out and they release a SMY2 single, I'll be able to feel better about Kisumai and just have fun being their fan. I already feel a little better about Kisumai. I guess caring this much and worrying this much about everything shows that in the end, Kisumai's important to me.
If the single goes through, I will support it. I will support them; I will buy as many copies as I think I can. This could be the clearest way fans can show Johnnys and Avex that we want things to change for Kisumai.
I think the hardest thing is that there hasn't been any more news about it yet. It's hard to be excited when it's still so up in the air. :/

Date: 2013-10-08 06:15 am (UTC)But for that to happen something needs to change, I think, and maybe an SMY2 single could be that change.
And yes, what is up about getting no info about it. I'm almost getting afraid it's just a cruel joke D:

Date: 2013-10-08 02:30 pm (UTC)I remembered this morning that SNOW DOME/Luv Sick is their 9th single, so I'm hoping, an SMY2 single and then maybe the 10th single could be a big turning point. But that's hoping for a lot.
But I am worried about the lack of information. I was wondering if the reason I didn't see many English-language fans talking about it was related to the lack of news and uncertainty about it. If they come out saying it's a joke, there's probably going to be backlash now.

Date: 2013-10-08 03:26 pm (UTC)I'm just afraid that Nakai wasn't serious (enough) about it, and that the newspaper that tweeted "single" simply got ahead of themselves... People will be mad if it turns it won't happen /:

Date: 2013-10-08 05:23 pm (UTC)Yeah, Nakai is known for joking about a lot of things, so it's hard to tell what he really meant. >_
