Since my brother's been so often loud and annoying playing Rock Band 2 recently and might be forced to move the 360, I decided that I could go ahead and beat Tales of Vesperia tonight. If I can find the time, someone with an accessible 360 at college, and a way to transfer my data to another 360 (who decided it would be a good idea to save the data ON the system instead of on an easily transportable memory device?), I'll finish up some of the sidequests on my starting save file and probably just ignore my end game save file and make a new way. I'll just keep the current end game save file as a token of beating it... or something.

Hmm, I suppose that overall, the ending was nice? pleasing? satisfying? The thing I found most interesting was that we didn't kill the final boss, Duke. It's a bit strange to have fought him three times there at the end, and then end up with him still alive. I mean, the real enemy was the Adephagos, of course, but I did not directly fight the Adephagos, just watch a pretty video of the gang defeating it while simultaneously completely CHANGING THE WORLD!! I do like that the gang convinced Duke to see things their way and that Duke kept on living, but it's still kinda odd.

I collected all the fell arms even though I had seen people say that it was a bad idea. Even though I had to go through a lot of healing items, I beat Duke in that last form the first try, so I suppose it all works out. All of my party was level 80-81, I think, so that's probably why I could manage to do it. I remember that the final form of Duke with the fell arms had a hilariously ridiculous name, but I already forgot what it was.

At the start of the whole ending sequence before the battle, it seemed pretty obvious to me that they were seriously trying to show off the awesome graphics. As the party was walking towards Duke, the rotating camera angles from a bird's eye view were the first thing that tipped me off for the showing off. The other thing that I recall striking me as showing off were seeing some of Duke through the falling water (which did look pretty cool). Also, this has nothing to do with the in-game graphics, but at I think the very end of the video before the credits, I though the part with Undine and Sylph flying off and leaving pretty trails of green and blue was absolutely beautiful, although I was wondering where Efreet and Gnome were while I was watching it.

Also during the ending video, I found it amusing how both times Flynn said something, it was all about Yuri. Lol, Flynn, Yuri's not the only one up there saving the world, but we see just whom you care about up there. ;3

There was one thing Judith said about the Adephagos originally part of the world that felt rushed and thrown in at the last moment, but that might in part be that the voice actress did (and probably had to) say it rather quickly.

There's one important question left unanswered, however. Now, it could just be that I forget the part where the explain it away, but...

Raven's heart is a blastia heart, right? But we turned all the blastia cores into spirits, right? So how is Raven still alive? T_T I like Raven and all, but...

Speaking of characters (or maybe not, but bear with me, here), I don't think I could point to any one or more as favorites. They were all cool and interesting characters (except Sodia... and Ragou and Cumore, but we killed those two, thank goodness), but none of them struck me as really cool or really interesting. -_-

Anyway, for the most part, the ending was pretty satisfying and nicely optimistic. This game clearly shows us that we can and should stop using energy sources which harm our world. Go go alternative energy sources!! Wait a second... Video games with political messages? No way, that's crazy talk. ^_^

End game. Yuri and Duke stand together to save the world by defeating the Adephagos! ...Wait, weren't we just fighting Duke a second ago? Nnnn. Is it just me, or does this defy some normal RPG conventions?

Anyway, I feel like beating Tales of Vesperia and seeing the ending has given me some temporary feeling of peace in my life. I guess I'll try to enjoy it while it lasts, and be slowly filled with excitement for the next game 'cause Persona 4's coming out next week!

Hmm, I don't think anyone on my f-list has actually beaten Vesperia yet. ^^; So I don't know that anyone will actually read this post. But maybe you can look back at this once you have? Nya~?
